The album depicts the stamps utilized during the 1948 Interim Period of Israel which is the period between the termination of British postal services in Palestine (March 15, to May 5, 1948) to the Israel Post opening post offices in all areas of the new State of Israel (June 1948). During this chaotic period, the the provisional government (Minhelet Ha’am) stepped in to provide postal services. In many locations, KKL stamps overprinted with DOAR (“Mail” or “Post”) were used in lieu of British Mandate stamps and before the availability of Doar Ivri stamps. Some communities, Nahariya, Rishon Lezion, and Safad, created provisional stamp in lieu of KKL stamps.
Album includes dubious Emergency and PATCO stamps.
