The author, Irwin Smalheiser, documents the Yom Hazikhron Remembrance letters, including translations of the letters and covers that were sent to families of the Fallen from inception in 1952. Remembrance letters have been written by many official including David Ben Gurion, Moshe Dayan and Yitzhak Rabin; though since 1968 has it has been traditional written by the Minster of Defense. The letters give range from be hopeful to blunt as they tend to reflect the mood of Israel society at the time and the writer of the letter. The 2nd Edition covers the letters and covers issued through 2015.
